What You Can Buy for $100,000

I live in California which is still one of the pricier places to be, so sometimes I fantasize about moving to a more affordable location. I wanted to see where I could go and buy a nice little house in a good area for around $100,000. I worked out the payments on an e mortgage calculator and it’s smaller than most monthly car payments! What a dream!

Here’s what I found (on realtor.com):

The mortgage payments only include principal and interest, property tax and insurance will vary by location. I also used 4% as the interest rate, but you can use an e-mortgage calculator and perform your own calculations.

More for your money

You never really know what a community and neighborhood is like without seeing it first hand. But online these areas look promising. They’re all close to major metropolitan areas,  have good schools and enjoy low unemployment and low crime rates. All of the homes I found need some updating but have good floor plans and sit on nice sized lots. With low housing costs and mortgage rates at historic lows, you definitely get more for your money. I’m impressed to see how much house you can buy for $100,000.
