Expand Your Knowledge and Feed the Hungry

I came across FreeRice.com a couple years ago. It has a simple premise – take a vocabulary quiz and for each answer you get right, 10 grains of rice will be donated to the World Food Programme.

You don’t have to register or log in, just go there and jump in.

Originally FreeRice.com only covered vocabulary, and that alone was pretty cool. But I’m excited that they’ve expanded to include other subjects such as Grammar, Math, Art, Geography, Chemistry and even Languages: French, German, Italian and Spanish.

This is a great tool for school age kids, but I know there are quite a few subjects here that I can brush up on while providing food to someone in need.

From FreeRice.com:

Though 10 grains of rice may seem like a small amount, it is important to remember that while you are playing, so are thousands of other people at the same time. It is everyone together that makes the difference. Thanks to you, FreeRice has generated enough rice to feed millions of people since it started in October 2007.

This is made possible by the generosity of the sponsors who advertise on this site.

Check out FreeRice.com. I challenge you not to become addicted!

I’ve never seen this before – Thanks CtbF! Thank you for the link too. I’m sorry missed you on my Yakezie list until now. I’m new to the blogging world so I’m a little slow in getting stuff together. I miss one or two days away from the computer and my inbox gets insane!

No Prob! I only put up the blogroll late last week and it’s already out of date. Oh well! We just do what we can. :-)
